F-4J Phantom Crashes on First Test Flight in St. Louis
A newly built F-4J Phantom crashed during its first test flight in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 20, 1968. The controls were reportedly jammed by a forgotten socket in the control-stick well. The production test pilot and radar observer ejected about three seconds after takeoff and survived.
