Re: Airshow Plane Crashes into Cars on A27 at Shoreham, West Sussex

Surely its edited

It looks as though the camera man follows but then it fades into the fireball from blue sky... I dunno, seems like they've edited out the actual crash footage from it.
I see what you mean, but I just took that as the bloke filming shitting himself when he realised that plane wasn't going to stop or change direction. I could well be wrong though.

Identifying Shoreham Victims Could Take Weeks
Tuesday, 25th August 2015 03:20

Identifying all the victims of the Shoreham Airshow disaster could take weeks, it has been revealed.

Coroner Penny Schofield said the investigation was likely to be a "slow and painstaking operation" and appealed for the public to be patient and understanding.

It comes as police warned they were keeping an open mind about the number of victims who may have died when the Hawker Hunter jet ploughed into the A27 in Shoreham at the weekend.

The official estimate of the number of people thought to have died in the tragedy stands at 11 but investigators say further victims may be found as the rest of the aircraft's debris is cleared away.

A picture taken moments before the crash shows half-a-dozen people watching the air show on the verge of the A27 - yards from where the plane came down. Their fate is unknown.

A Facebook post by a firefighter who attended the scene of devastation has been widely circulated.

John Murphy wrote: "What a truly tragic weekend this has been, I can't begin to explain the devastating events that myself and my colleagues witnessed first hand at the airshow yesterday.

"We were providing fire cover and was in position just 100 metres from the crash scene when it happened.

"We were first in attendance but no amount of training, experience or advice could prepare us for what we were about to deal with."

The remains of the plane have been removed from the scene for forensic examination.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Barry said: "As a result of lifting the jet, we have not discovered any evidence of further victims and our estimate of 11 highly likely victims remains in place.

"However, until we have fully completed the search of what is an extensive scene, I must caution that there is still the possibility that we may discover evidence of further victims, but I am not prepared to speculate on that figure."

Police yesterday named a fourth victim - wedding car driver Maurice Abrahams.

The 76-year-old's family described him as "a well-respected and loved father and husband" who "enjoyed his work chauffeuring his beloved Daimler car".

Three other victims were also named: Worthing United players Matthew Grimstone and Jacob Schilt, both 23, and personal trainer Matt Jones, 24.

Motorcyclist Mark Trussler, from Worthing, is missing, while fears have been raised over Daniele Polito, a father from Worthing who was travelling in the same car as Mr Jones when the plane crashed.

Pilot Andrew Hill is fighting for his life after being put into a medically-induced coma after being pulled from the wreckage. It is not known whether he activated the ejector seat.

The Civil Aviation Authority has said "significant" restrictions on UK air shows are now being brought in amid calls for changes following the crash.

Displays by vintage jets over land will be limited to flypasts, which means high energy acrobatics are banned.

An appeal has been put out for members of the public who may have photographed the disaster to come forward.

They can send footage to the Air Accidents Investigation Branch at enquiries@aaib.gov.uk, or to police.

Those wanting to send files to police should contact officers at shoreham.airshow2015@sussex.pnn.police.uk, before sending files.

Re: Airshow Plane Crashes into Cars on A27 at Shoreham, West Sussex

This made my blood boil. This absolute arsehole asked for the money for his ticket to be refunded because it "ruined his early birthday treat" Though he has apologised, I think he apologised for the fact he'd posted on a public page rather than being sincere

Lewis Macdonald branded 'heartless' after his refund request for airshow
He posted on Facebook asking how to get money back for four £18 tickets
Former charity worker said he 'did not get full day's worth out of tragedy'
Hundreds criticised him on social media and he has since apologised.

A Shoreham Airshow spectator apologised last night after demanding a refund for four tickets, saying Britain's worst air disaster in a generation had 'ruined his early birthday treat'.

Former charity worker Lewis Macdonald posted on Facebook asking how to get the money back for the £18 tickets after saying he 'did not get a full day's worth out of this tragedy'.

But now ‘humiliated’ Mr Macdonald, of Worthing, West Sussex, has said sorry after being pilloried on social media, adding that he had ‘couldn't stop crying’ about Saturday’s tragic crash.

Mr Macdonald, who studied aircraft engineering at college, admitted that he sounded 'callous' but said his father desperately needed the cash back after spending £72 on the day out.

He originally posted on Facebook, saying: 'It's ruined my day... all flying was cancelled. I was there today as an early birthday treat.

'Now it's ruined and my dad spent all that money on four people practically for nothing. I know it sounds callous, but I'd like to know how to get the money he spent back in his account.'

But hundreds of people took to Twitter to condemn his post after at least 11 people lost their lives when the Hawker Hunter jet smashed into a line of cars on the A27 in West Sussex.

And after receiving an onslaught of abuse from people who called him ‘heartless’, Mr Macdonald posted another message, saying: 'How dare they accuse me of being selfish.'

He added: 'I'm so terribly sorry that (I) have moved on from this tragic incident and am now concerned with helping out my dad.'

However Mr Macdonald, who listed Oxfam as a previous employer, later relented and posted a full apology on his Facebook page. He said he was 'devastated' after the tragedy and said he was hurting just as much as anyone else.

Mr Macdonald said: 'I have a history of saying and doing some pretty stupid things, and whilst I had the best of intentions, I didn't think when I posted on a public message board.
