Re: Airbus Helicopter Crash That Killed 8 People
A joint forensic team has successfully identified all eight victims of the PK-CFX helicopter crash in Sekadau District, Head of West Kalimantan Regional Police’s Bhayangkara Hospital, Senior Commissioner J. Ginting, announced on Saturday. While the identification is complete, officials are finalizing the reconciliation stage—the final cross-referencing of antemortem and postmortem data—before the bodies are released to their respective families. The intensive identification process was led by the Health and Medical Services Unit alongside four forensic specialists. Ginting confirmed that the team successfully accounted for all eight passengers previously reported missing following the accident. Although the team faced no major technical obstacles, Ginting noted that the identification of one foreign victim required additional verification using fingerprint records from his country of origin. This extra step was necessary to ensure total accuracy before the formal conclusion of the forensic work. In a separate statement, Pontianak SAR Office Head I Made Junetra confirmed that the joint search and rescue (SAR) team has completed the recovery of all victims from the crash site. The operation was particularly demanding due to the helicopter’s location on a steep hilltop. Rescue workers had to navigate treacherous, vertical terrain with extreme caution to reach the wreckage. The recovery effort concluded late Thursday night. Junetra praised the seamless coordination between the Indonesian Military, the National Police, and various local agencies, describing the successful mission as a testament to the professionalism and solidarity of the joint SAR team under challenging field condition |
