Re: The Tar From 400 Cigarettes
I smoked for about 20-23 years and was smoking up to 2 packs a day as well as using Snuss mouth tobacco (Scandinavian) and I stopped both back in 2002 and have used neither since. Fortunately I never missed the cigaettes (I used nicotine patches and a weekly visit to the military doctor to discuss progress and patch reduction) - the patches I was on where HUGE I had big arms back then and fortunately they fitted on my bicep as they normally have to be put on legs or the persons back but neither is desirable as it can cause increased heart palputations). The Snuss....now that was a different matter I could smell (or rather "taste" it) that stuff in a crowded bar and I would have to leave as it drove me bonkers! I wouldn't even consider touching a cigarette if there was a packet in the house but I know even some 11-12 years on I would have to take the lid off and smell that stuff.....my mouth is salivating talking about the stuff! Its just as well its illegal here in the UK as the temptation would be great especially with me being bedbound with severe pain a lot of the time....I would probably even trade my morphine for it! |

Re: The Tar From 400 Cigarettes
consider also that the lungs do not absorb all that tar. how much gets blown out after every drag? the greater majority by far goes into the surrounding atmosphere and eventually settles onto something nearby. I suggest that you smoke 400, blowing the air back thru that tube. subtract the amount collected from original sample and then we have some numbers to work with. although as was pointed out earlier, hot boxing does the experiment no good in establishing a realistic representation either... just sayin' |

Re: The Tar From 400 Cigarettes
I only ever smoked while stressed or having anxiety as it helped me relax for some reason. The most I've ever done is probably 10 a week for two weeks then went without for years then after years if some stress got to me I'd have maybe one or two smokes out of a whole pack then not need it for years again. Now I've switched to using a eGO vape stick for times of stress. Haven't touched it in over a year but I wonder if vaping is as tarry as cigs?
