Re: Spider Behind the Clock

I think you mean Steve Irwin yes?.

It is a Huntsman, I encounter at least a dozen every time I cut firewood, they are not venomous, although do get riled when pissed off.

I have been bitten a few times, make you queasy for a day or two, nothing serious.

Small fact, Huntsman's although they do have fangs do not eat their food in a conventional manner, most spiders inject their food with a liquidizing venom and then suck the juices out of the insect they have just killed, Huntsman's do not, they actually have teeth and chew their food. :)

seriously have never known anyone who has been bitten by a huntsman, my brother kept them in his room all the time, they were all named Pete.

one time he had me my mum and my sister holed up all standing on the toilet with the door locked, while he tried to force a massive fucker under the door...errr

my dad (aka Harry, nicknamed after harry butler) lets these things crawl all over him and he to has never been bitten.

In my opinion they are ugly as sin but completely harmless, we call them rain spiders because they always turn up when it rains.
