Politics. At least ours of one, it lies in the middle of a middle-class neighborhood. So nobody wants it to become low-rent housing, or a parking lot for that matter. And the place is filled with black-mold and other problems; (believe-you-me, I helped scavenge the place long before this current state of rot.) It took a big-assed government grant to get the gas to flatten the place. It's not quite a "superfund" problem, but there's a lot of shit that makes private-sector shy away from recovering this rust-belt money-pit. But at least our gubmint is recovering useless properties like this and not fixing our roads/bridges, right? |
