It wasn't the mother, but a father polar bear eating his cub in northern Canada. Scientists are not too sure why a few of the males have resorted to type of rare behavior. Speculation is that global warming might have something to do with the scarcity of certain types of large fish and seals polar bears normally eat.

Thanks for the facts. I know a lot about Polar bears and I knew this was not typical behavior for either of the sexes.
