The reason why there is a hunting on alligators is because their population is actually growing with i believe its to be 2 million in Louisiana alone so no they will not be going extinct anytime soon calm down people.  |

Actually we did almost hunt them to extinction back in the 1800's and early 1900's here in La, but they've been regulated for decades now. Presently, gators are only allowed to be harvested during the month of September (30 days, no sooner no later). If you are caught harvesting out that month, the penalties are very harsh. |

They should train alligators to hunt all the wild pigs that are running riot down there. Maybe outfit them with some training shoes. Something like that. |

Not a problem here in Louisiana, we eat so many hogs it's ridiculous...no leftovers for the gators. On the other hand, you're right...Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, and all the states that border us seem to have a population problem. I guess they just don't hunt them as much. Ok, I was wondering what you were talking about...kind of my my fault though, I should have mentioned the 19' 2" gator killed here wasn't just a state record like those 2 you posted, but the largest gator ever killed in history. |
