Re: Serial Killers, a Compilation !
H.H. Holmes was a VERY interesting guy. If you want further details, read the book "Devil in the White City" which is about his activities at the time of the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago. (This was when he was most active, luring women who had come to work at the world's fair. The detective who caught him had no life, because the detective's wife and daughter had died in a fire. So he went to work on the case about 18 hours a day for nearly a year. He spent an entire summer walking on foot through Chicago, in 100 degree heat, trying to tie various victims to Holmes's movements. He eventually was successful, and Holmes was hung. This would make a GREAT psychological film. Holmes was an EXCEPTIONAL speaker. He once held a meeting with 30 or 40 angry creditors, many of whom wanted him arrested. (This was a financial case, they didn't even suspect he was killing people) An observer said that when he entered the room, everyone was enraged, and when he left the room, the entire room was on his side, some people were crying, and all the actions were dropped. The observer said it was the damnedest thing he had ever seen. He must have been an incredible speaker or a hypnotist. This is the first picture of his building I have ever seen. After the building burned down, a post office now occupies the site. I always wondered if there were remnants under the post office. They reported he had built a gas chamber in a sub basement, and after the fire, they could still see the footprints of the victims on the steel walls, where they were kicking, trying to get out. He usually killed them with city gas. I always wondered if any traces were left under the foundation. |
