Not sure about the rest of the U.S. but she was huge in Texas. I grew up in South Texas, they actually announced her death over P.A. systems in grocery stores and shit. It was crazy.

I am in Corpus Christi right now. Her museum is a few blocks down the road from where I am staying. I will try to get some photos this comeing weekend.

I don't know you, but so, so, so much respect for this post, sir.. Thank you. Selena's death was a shocking, unbelievable tragedy for many reasons, and I think you touched up on them pretty well..

It's hard to sum up into words all of the things that made her wonderful, but I think that one of her most beautiful defining attributes was her dedication and warmth towards those she loved, family, friends, and fans alike.. she just let everyone in, and so people, even from afar picked up on that, her generosity of self, and people just.. they became very protective of her, and remain that way to this day.

There's a concert where said generosity is very evident, and it's almost shocking, her trust in those around her.



You can see where fans slowly start to creep onstage and.. instead of having security toss people off, Selena allows these people to come up to her, kiss her, dance around with her, hug her, and then try to do the same with her husband. These people impede her singing, they walk all over the place and.. she just lets them. She lets these people so close to her, and any one of them could have hurt her, but she just keeps playing and singing, and she graciously obliges everyone. That is just wild to me. No one would dare to allow that anymore. She was just a completely lovely person, inside and out.

just watched the Alcapulco video. It's great. Selena at her very best. And I so love the way she treated her fans. And they treated her so well too.

I always weep when I watch her movie on HBO. A great talent wasted.

After being her fan, and loving her music and thinking she was the one good thing I was hearing on my radio and taking her music when I would travel through the lonely parts on my way to jobs I just was heartbroken when she was murdered. Part of me was hoping it wasn't real. But, it was, oh, so very real. May that killer be repaid a thousand times for her crime.

Kinda looks like the flowers are in the way of viewing her good., at least in the pics it does.
