On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed during a campus event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

The shooting occurred while Kirk was speaking at his “American Comeback Tour” stop, which included a “Prove Me Wrong” discussion table set up under a tent.

Witnesses reported that the single fatal shot was fired from the roof of the Losee Center, some 142 to 200 yards away, striking Kirk in the neck as he addressed an audience of roughly three thousand people.

He was rushed to Timpanogos Regional Hospital, where he died later that afternoon. Authorities from local police, state agencies, and the FBI launched a coordinated investigation immediately.

Two people were detained for questioning in the hours following the attack but were later released without charges. As of now, the shooter remains at large, and officials have not confirmed a motive.

Law enforcement has described the case as a possible targeted attack and has appealed to the public for information, offering a reward for tips that might lead to identifying the gunman.

The killing has drawn national attention, both for its high-profile victim and for the open-air setting in which it took place, raising questions about security measures at large campus political events.
