Re: A REAL World Trade Center Jumper

I cannot IMAGINE what it would be like to have experienced that. The sound and noise must have been surreal.
To hear it as far away as a few blocks was deafening, I can't, nor do I want to imagine what it was like being inside them. The collapses actually registered on the ricter scale as two seperate 3.4 earthquakes if I remember correctly.

Re: A REAL World Trade Center Jumper

I was there as a cop, but I don't work for the NYPD. Responded from nearby. I can only describe that day as a huge shock to the senses. Sights, sounds and smells that will never go away. 10 years later and they're still as strong as they were that day. I was there for weeks, stopping only to sleep, eat, shower and change.
Well man, let me tell you thank you. It took brass balls to go there in the first place, but then to stay and deal with that situation..............I'm sure that was something else entirely. Many would have said fuck it, I'm out of here.

If you would rather not talk about it that much, I understand it 100 %, and will not be offended. I know somethings can do wicked shit to your mind, and that day is a perfect example. Did you see anyone jump ? Or rather, did you see them impact ? The reason I ask is because I have told some people on here what happened when they hit the ground, and some just can not, or do not want to accept it.

Re: A REAL World Trade Center Jumper

How is that close minded? It's pretty much a fact that no matter what they land on they're still falling with enough force to kill them instantly when they land.
I think they were being more of a smartass than anything, but maybe they really are that dumb. Some can't, or don't want to accept it, but it was a certain death sentence the moment they stepped of that ledge.

When you body hits with enough force to atomize your blood and cause you to explode all over the place, I am like you, it doesn't really matter how you land, you are screwed anyway you land.

Re: A REAL World Trade Center Jumper

How can one survive a long fall? I got this from http://www.wikihow.com/Survive-a-Long-Fall

"Hard, inflexible surfaces such as concrete are the worst on which to fall. Very uneven or jagged surfaces, which present less surface area to distribute the force of impact, are also undesirable".

"The best possible surfaces on which to fall are snow, deep water, soft ground and trees or thick vegetation".

I'll put it this way. A person jumping from the highest point on the Golden Gate Bridge will drop 245 feet before plunging into the water. The impact from that fall kills 98 percent of all jumpers. Now just imagine jumping from the World Trade Center anywhere between 1,000-1,300 feet, striking the ground (most likely concrete) at just less than 150 miles per hour. Your chance of survival is ZERO. People desperately used table cloths and anything else they could to try and help slow down their fall. Some hit the concrete, surrounding buildings, the VIP awning and as you can see in the picture below some fell through this....

Very true, and you can see part of somebody on the stage. The framework of the musicstage was steel tubing, and had that big cover over the top and sides incase of rain. People hit the steel tubing and were more or less cut into pieces. The strange thing is, their limbs would hit the stage with enough force to bounce a bit, and then fly off onto the concrete in front of the chairs.

A heavy set woman hit between the musicstage and facade of the North Tower, and she litteraly covered three windows, and those windows were not small by any standard.

Re: A REAL World Trade Center Jumper

I'm going to add 9/11: phone calls from inside the Twin Towers in general interests. Some are sick of 9/11, so this for the ones who are not. It will give you some insight into why jumping from that high up was the better option.

No I wont, embedding disabled by request. Here is the link though.

Re: A REAL World Trade Center Jumper

I remember that day hearing all those victims last words via phone messages to family members. It sure was a sad thing to hear & see. It is simply beyond belief how those family members carried on. I believe I would have just gone crazy.

I have talked to other people there that day, and about all of them noticed the same thing. Every single person that jumped remained quiet the whole way down. A couple of people say they could hear the people hanging out the windows yelling, but just barely.

Between sirens, people screaming everytime a person would come down, police yelling, firefighters yelling, alarms blaring, shit falling and making thunderous booms, they heard more than I did.

Out of everything that day, the impacting bodies is what stands out in my mind. My dear friend John says there is no way to confuse the two, that high explosives and a body hitting the ground at just under 150 mph are not the same thing.

I tried to explain that of course they are different, but they sounded like explosions. Finally, the way I explained it is this, if you remove the nozzle from a spraypaint can, shake it up vigorously, then toss it in a fire, it will explode.

I was a bit of a smartass and probably shouldn't have been. I asked him if he would consider that an explosion. I told him that even if he didn't, the federal goverment does, and they explicitly say so on the warning label.

And the jumpers hitting the concrete were louder than that. Louder than a spraypaint can exploding. Imagine continuing to hear that time after time..............it seemed as though there would never be an end to it, til the towers came down. Then you realized there was nobody left to jump.

I want to apologize for my mix up, I took for granted that you were male. Like I said, I try not to take anything for granted, but I still do at times. I had taken my meds last night a bit early because of digging two grave early this morning, and it fucked my head up.

You had every right to tell me to fuck off, but didn't. Thank you for that. One thing that kind of blew my mind was, almost every person I have talked to at any amount of time and detail has been males. I find it refreshing that some females are trying to learn about this subject.

I have drove my wife, daughters, and several other females crazy with this, and they usually say, we are women, we don't want to hear all of that gory, gross stuff. So thank you, you were a very good sport about it.
