I've seen this picture many times in B&W and in color. I think it's fake. The illumination is wrong in many places. Hard to find out due to the resolution, never seen one good enough to analyze. The places where the different pieces get together are darkened on purpose.
Besides all that, I'm almost 100% sure that the car never got the top removed. The first pictures published were taken after the emergency intervention, the bodies were gone already and the car had the top. I'd have to check that out because my memory could be failing.

I think you will find in most car accidents where the roof has to be cut off to release the victims it is then placed back on top of the body of the car when the car is removed hence why some may think the roof was never cut off.

The bottom black and white photo is real. There were two, they showed at the time. It was shown on television during the court case. Someone grabbed it from there. I believe the Sun posted them first.

Anyone have any updated photos? I read the autopsy/crash review somewhere, and the gnarliest death was Princess Diana's boy toy; compounded fractures and went through the windshield...or something like that. I figured someone must've released some fresh photos by now...or will be hopefully soon.
