It's interesting because for them to admit that there could be more to this goes contrary to their narrative, yet even they admit the waters are still kind of muddy. Nothing would make them happier than this being a case of a lone crazy white guy, since in their mind, it reiterates both white self-hate and the need for a full-out gun ban, but it might not be the case.

Judging by the many tweets I've seen, there are some on the left who took pure joy from this incident. Not all or most of course, but sadly the few can represent all in some peoples mind.

it's just interesting. At this point of my life I'm a blend of ideologies depending on the issue. like the above comment regarding "lefties," I've heard the same sort of things said of the right by their opponents. I'd venture that the majority of people are somewhere just left or just right of center, but it seems, like ferris alluded, that the most virulent of either side gets the air play. It's really too bad because I'm sure there is a compromise somewhere regarding the gun issue that could be meaningful.

Unless he left a clear manifesto like Breivik, I see no reason why he’d do it - there were other festivals he may have targeted but this one was it. No affiliations, no clear beliefs, nothing. He just wanted to kill as many as possible. He was totally crazy. I think attempting to assign a deeper meaning gives him more credit than he deserves.

A worker leaked his hotel receipt and it has the guest count at 2. The police chief was also asked during a press conference if they had reason to believe he has help and he said yes.

Totally with you in thinking that the most people are centrist, but it's those loud outliers that get the airtime, push the narrative, and often influence policy decisions.

On a side note, bump stocks are stupid. They're just a way of firing full auto with even less accuracy than a real full auto weapon. Tried one once and wasn't impressed.

Disregarding what the Sheriff said, that receipt really doesn't prove much. The reason being that if he had checked in using his girlfriends ID he could easily lie that the rooms occupancy was 2 people, that is what the computers would default to on room service and such.
