The elder Whitman had three sons, and when each graduated high school, he handed them a new car and "all the love I could give them." Today, all three boys are buried together in South Florida--one killed in a barroom shootout in Florida, another lost to AIDS in California, and Charlie dead on top of the tower in Texas.
"We went hunting all the time," the elder Whitman recalled in a recent interview, speaking of his namesake and favorite son. "Both of us did. I taught him how to shoot before he even joined the Marines."
He was rated a sharpshooter in the military, just one peg below expert, and it was said "he could hit a quail on the fly with a .22 rifle."

What a shitty life Whitman Sr. endured, I'm trying to find more info on him, and possible find tje reason his son didn't murder him along with the mother and wife.

watch that video i posted i think that's the one where he talks about his father and he was a complete fucking asshole to the brothers and his mother and i believe that he is one of the reason that charles did what he did or one of the reasons
One month after his June 1959 graduation from high school (where he had graduated seventh in a class of seventy-two students),[7] Whitman enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He had not told his father beforehand. Whitman told a family friend that the catalyst was an incident a month before. His father had beaten him and thrown him into the family swimming pool, almost drowning him, because Whitman had come home drunk after an evening socializing with friends.[8] Whitman left home on July 6, having been assigned an 18-month tour of duty with the Marines at Guantanamo Bay. His father still did not know he had enlisted.[7]
As Whitman traveled toward Parris Island, his father learned of his action and telephoned a branch of the federal government, trying unsuccessfully to have his son's enlistment canceled.

WOW! I just watched the video in the link at the end of the text and it says that upon autopsy it was found that this guy had a brain tumor called Glioblastoma Multiforme. This same tumor killed my brother 2 1/2 years ago.

Every bio I've read of him mentions a brain tumor, but nothing I've read says anything about it being malignant, or even in a spot on the brain that would have affected his judgement in any way.
