I was hit head on by an elderly woman with dementia. She had been on the wrong side of the interstate for over 2 miles. It was an impact of 120 mph. It’s an absolute miracle I survived and was released from the hospital the very same day!

Years later I add my two cents to this story - at the time it broke my heart, and my initial thought was that possibly blew an aneurysm - but after studying the autopsy, the tox, and documentation I had to change my mind. I believe she was a chronic pot smoker - I believe she was a strong social drinker, but not an alcoholic. However her alcohol level in her blood and vitreous humor was super high - and she still had alcohol in her stomach. She was drunk, and she had gotten drunk fairly quickly - on purpose. She was married to a cold fish who had no problem admitting that he never wanted the children. So she would not leave them with him. Because of her cold marriage, she was the main bread winner, she had gotten heavy, she was probably a very unhappy woman. Maybe the night before she had,had words with Daniel, and just felt like giving up. Into the trip she started drinking - fairly fast - which would explain witnesses who saw her vomiting at the side if the road. The phone was left purposely so there would be no more contact with family. She was driving fast and aggressively, sounding her horn -and by the way the kids were tossed around, I doubt they had their seatbelt on. No one could tell what her eyes were doing - her speed was fast enough that they wold only see her momentarily. It amazes me how far she got, going in the wrong direction, before she hit someone. I know suicides, and I believe she got herself drunk enough to have the guts to carry it through. Her kids would go with her - Daniel never wanted them in the first place. Why the nieces - that's my wall with many theories, but nothing concrete. Diane did this - no mysterious illness, or severe pain - that alcohol level was very high - that she still had so much in her stomach means that she stopped drinking shortly before she turned down the wrong way. But the nieces?

I remember watching the documentary, wondering just how much denial a person could actually have. A vast amount, apparently. Daniel Schuler wanted people to believe the alcohol (vodka, specifically) and THC formed in her bloodstream after her death. If bodies formed those substances after death, thousands and thousands of people, including children, would have been previously identified by now as having those substances in their bloodstream when it would have otherwise been an impossibility. It doesn't happen. She used the substances, impaired herself and killed people because of it.

Can understand how everyone would be super jaded and one sided in their assertion she was totally sober. Was last seen sober probably with little time to take anything.

Wonder what the kids were saying.

She probably downed a few shots on top of a strong edible or something similar, wasn't expecting to be cross faded to the 9th level of hell and unable to see.

Sucks for the kids and driver of the Chevy.
