Re: Martin Luther King Death & Crime Scene Photos ( VERY RARE )

His memory and example will live on forever while the name of those who killed him are tossed into the dumpster of history.

Although I am white, MLK was my childhood hero, and as a man he is still my hero. It's a sad shame that I have to point out my skin color because it is just one of the many things which go to show that King's dream of racial equality is still not realized in America. MLK is often wrongly assumed to be only a hero to black people, and things like the "Black Lives Matter" movement are treated as terrorist organizations by those who are blind to the extent of white privilege permeating our great land.

Tomorrow, fifty years after King's murder, it is clear that we still have a lot of work to do to bring about true racial equality, gender equality, women's rights, the rights of immigrants, the rights of the poor, LGBTQ rights, and more. King would have still been the people's champion if he was alive today (as a few of his associates still are, such as former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young and Congressman John Lewis), especially in 2018 with the well documented increase in racial hatred, intolerance, and bigotry so often encouraged by Mr. Trump and many (though not all) of his cult followers.

May God bless MLK's memory and may humanity move closer to equality, love, justice, peace, and brotherhood for all, even those with whom we disagree.

Re: Martin Luther King Death & Crime Scene Photos ( VERY RARE )

MLK's family were convinced that it was not James Earl Ray who shot him.

I stopped by the museum in Memphis last Summer. They did a great job restoring everything (including a pretty scuzzy neighborhood), the motel and balcony where MLK was shot, the room where James Earl Ray shot MLK, all the evidence, even the car JER drove away in was there. It was neat being able to see the actual distances involved and location...JER was really close with that 30-06 and a scope. The only thing I didn't really like was the ham handed civil rights museum down stairs. They should have just left it as a museum devoted to the assassination instead of forcing the civil rights aspect down your throat.

Oh the "White Privilege" thing again. Take your White Guilt trip somewhere else, pal. Canada might be a good start. Maybe you and Trudeau can have an encounter session to work out your feelings and jerk each other's poles.

Way late, but I just got here, but thank you for that video.

I never knew that the King family didn't think Ray shot MLK.

It's true when they say you learn something new everyday!

True, true, true, it's never too late to learn something new. From what I understand it's not the entire family that thinks he had nothing to do with it. I'm pretty sure they all ( the immediate family ) think there was more to their Father's murder than the official story says. Many believe it was a much larger conspiracy and that James Earl Ray was indeed a part of it. In fact the support that Dexter and Mrs. King showed for James Earl Ray was a source of contention and bitterness within the family.

I have no source I can point to concerning this so take it for what you will. But I have personal memories of this sentiment being a part of the zeitgeist as this was all happening back in the 80's and 90's. Again, personal memory isn't exactly an infallible source but I do remember that. So, you know, take it with a grain of salt.

Re: Martin Luther King Death & Crime Scene Photos ( VERY RARE )

Yeah...The part about the scraping blood and putting it in a jar kind of fascinated me for some reason. I never would have thought of someone doing that. Add that one to the odd factoid section of my memory warehouse. I wonder if it has ever come up for sale on ebay. Weird.
It is a thing people do in shock. Jackie Kennedy wasn't trying to get out of the car, she was actually going to pick up his pieces of his cranium and brain, just out of instinct because... that was what made sense in the moment.
