Re: The Last Known Pictures of Robin Williams
[/QUOTE] All this fighting aside, I'd like to interject one comment...a few years ago a well-known personality, Montel Williams, was diagnosed with MS, an inflammatory disease in which the insulating covers of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are damaged and this damage disrupts the ability of parts of the nervous system to communicate, resulting in a wide range of signs and symptoms both physical and mental. Apparently this disease can also be incredibly painful and as a result, Williams seriously considered suicide as the pain was unceasing and nearly unbearable. Had he not eventually found means to mask the pain (including medical marijuana) he had once told his children that he couldn't stand it and may have to find a way out. They were understandably upset by this news and begged him not to consider it for many reasons including what it would do to them. And what he said is this (and I paraphrase): "Who are you to judge me and my ability to bear the pain I'm experiencing? Am I to spend days writhing in agony just so you can feel better? There's no way you could possibly understand my suffering unless you experience it first hand. You have no right to put your burden on me. If I can no longer endure this pain, I want the option to end my life." The point here is what's truly selfish is judging someone else's ability to deal with pain based on our own, to expect someone else to endure agony (whatever it may be, physical or mental) just so we don't feel bad. It's selfish to expect someone to endure a living hell, just so we can have them around a while longer so we won't miss them and have nightmares or deal with trauma.. Does this mean we shouldn't try to help them? Of course not...but we have little right to judge them if they can't bear their life despite all the love and help we give them. |

Re: The Last Known Pictures of Robin Williams
Robin was anything but a coward and selfish. He was battling his personal demons all his life and he made it to 63. If you ask me, he lasted a lot longer than most people have/do. Anyone who calls him a coward or selfish is a complete moron.

Re: The Last Known Pictures of Robin Williams
Those who say he was a coward are just attention seekers who want the limelight for themselves, no matter who they hurt when they try to put their narcissistic selves in the spotlight.
