Re: Eric Garner Dies After NYPD Cop Puts Him in a Chokehold
I personally feel the response was a little over the top, but I wasn't there and neither was anyone else here responding. We don't know the history of this guy, or anything. HOWEVER- if the cops say on the ground, then get on the ground! Simple as that. |

They can go overboard with force. I've seen it and EXPERIENCED it. As Ron White said: " I don't know how many of them it would've took to whip my ass..........but I know how many they were going to use. "

Re: Eric Garner Dies After NYPD Cop Puts Him in a Chokehold
I'm really curious, from a medical viewpoint, what exactly does "compression of the neck" mean, and how exactly did Garner die? There are two ways to die from a chokehold that I can think of, either the airway is obstructed for a long enough period of time or the carotid arteries are obstructed for a long enough period of time. Garner was choked for only about 20 seconds, as near as I can tell, and they sat him for about a minute more. I would expect someone to lose consciousness after a 20 second chokehold, but then to quickly regain consciousness. Garner's brain could have been sending signals to his lungs to breathe, but because his chest was compressed nothing was working (I imagine). If that was the case wouldn't the biggest contributing factor to his death be the compression of the chest after the loss of consciousness? Also, according to news releases it appears the cops waiting 7 minutes to perform CPR on him. Would CPR, had it been given immediately, likely revived Garner? |

Re: Eric Garner Dies After NYPD Cop Puts Him in a Chokehold
I'm sorry the man died but obviously in a threatening manner and obviously resisted arrest. The cops were doing their job and this is all blown out of proportion. Trayvon Martin all over again. Just because a man of a certain skin color dies during a regular police procedure doesn't make it a hate crime. Get off your high horses. It's fucken stupid

you have the right to say don,t touch me to anyone. The police only should be able to put their hands on you if you are being detained which at that time they should tell you to put your hands behind your back or on your head.Once you have been told that you should comply with the orders. Was that part where they ask him or tell him they are arresting him cut out of the video?

Weird how a guy with a Nazi (National Socialist) profile picture tries to lecture others on "murder" and the 'proper' use of murder.....hmmmmm.

Re: Eric Garner Dies After NYPD Cop Puts Him in a Chokehold
As soon as he lost consciousness or stop being verbal you would think that they would render aid immediately, not leave him on the sidewalk unresponsive....for any amount of time let alone 7 minutes. These cops should feel at least a little responsible for this mans death, because they made mistakes. They didn't check on him, they left him on the sidewalk for 7 minutes unresponsive. They should be charged in my opinion. They stuck em behind a desk and stripped his gun so obviously mistakes were made on there side.

Re: Eric Garner Dies After NYPD Cop Puts Him in a Chokehold
To me its cut and dry, you kill someone, then you should face consequences. That's anyone, not just citizens, granted in some peoples line of work shit can happen. That is no excuse for taking a life. If you are directly involved in the cause of death, then you have to be punished, maybe not as harsh as manslaughter for an officer, but something... Anything... |
