Like many others here, I, too, was introduced to gore through this video. As a personal injury paralegal, I was encouraged to watch it, my employer attempting to facilitate some level of desensitization to better cope with viewing photos and footage of accident victims. It worked. It also made me aware that the families of victims I was working with constantly carried that death with them, replaying it in their minds much like the film on a loop. Had Mr. Dwyer chosen to end his life without the benefit of cameras, he would have become a footnote to Pennsylvania politics and we would remain unchanged. Powerful stuff indeed.

I just watched it and I just can't get desensitized. I wish I could. I can't look at any of it. Hats off to the brave men and women who deal with it daily.

The first time I watched this video it was presented in a movie/documentary called "Faces of Death" not sure which one it was as there was a few. Like Octagei think this was the first suicide/death video I ever saw.
I have never forgotten about it. & Yes A witness, who had already been convicted of perjury, who later recanted his own testimony, and who had cut a deal with the state, is the testimony that convicted Mr. Dwyer.

I remember when this occurred....All the news stations in the area (except for I think CNN) blackened the screen at the point when he took the gun out of the folder, but let the audio continue....CNN showed the whole thing, which created some controversy at the time...It was pretty sad.

I watched it live when it happened. I was just a kid and he was up there talking and the next second pulls out his gun and you can hear people saying "no Bud" etc and the next thing bang and blood just went everywhere. People were understandably freaking out and we were sitting there in the front of the tv looking at each other wondering if we just saw what we thought we saw and of course we had. Crazy!

One of the envelopes he was passed on contained a donor ID card. I hope they got to him in time for his death to have at least have some sense of meaning in helping others. Does anyone know if his organs were able to be harvested? I know you actually have to keep the brain oxygenated for them to be viable, with that pretty much instantly fatal head wound, I'm not sure he could've been reached in time.
