yes and also from the impact so fire and impact bending two third of the steel columns which weren't designed completely right to the impact standards they thought it would be.

I still have my ticket from that day. I was supposed to be on a plane later in the day of 9/11. I was an acting hospital business office director of the ripe age of 21 and had to be at corporate meetings the next day in Tennessee (from central Florida). Needless to say, I never made it on the flight that day. |

 This is the only set of videos where I wont joke around, put my usual dancing banana, etc. I'll never forget, as I'm sure is the same with anyone alive during that day, where I was when I watched the second plane hit the building, as well as those I know that directly knew people that died that day. I remember being in high school poetry class. We were talking about an upcoming poetry performance our class was going to be hosting a few weeks later. My teacher sent me to grab something from the main office. On my way to the office I was walking by the front checkin center, they had the news on and all I saw was the smoke coming from the one tower. Everyone was just standing watching the tv. I poked my head in to find out what was going on, literally seconds after poking my head in to see the TV I saw live as the second plane hit. Everyones reactions I'll never forget, it was literally sheer confusion, sadness and panic all at once. I made my way back to class and told the class what was happening and that I think we should turn on the news. Moments later was when the pentagon was hit, my friend and I looked at one another and said "We're under attack." As the days past I started to learn more about those closer to me than I'd thought that were impacted. My father worked at a place called Lockheed Sanders: A Martin Company. I think it's now called BAE: Systems. One of his close colleagues he saw every day at work, had to catch a flight for a business meeting. That flight was the one that went into the first tower. My mother at the time worked for Hallmark, nothing fancy. Just going around from store to store restocking shelves. Her boss was around the same age as my mother, and the two became best friends over the years that she worked with her. Turns out her boss's sister was on United 93. She managed to call her via those phones on the backs of the seats and left her multiple voicemails basically asking her to take care of her pets, get her affairs in order, etc. Because she knew she wasn't gonna make it. Eventually the FBI came in an seized those voicemails from her as evidence. Then, yes the list goes on, one of my aunts on my mothers side used to work for American Airlines out of Boston. She checked in one of the terrorists. Fuck that day, I swear life just hasn't felt the same since it happened. |
