Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

139 was the best card I have seen all year, 5 round non title fights are awesome for the fans also. Even the prelim fights were amazing, Wand was great. He took a lot of hard shots from Le and didn't flinch. Shame about the crowd booing, Dana seemed really pissed off in his interview after the show...

Fox 2 card will most likely have 4 fights with at least 2 of those fights getting announced by Dana on Monday (American time) Apparently Anderson Silva has a shoulder injury and will be out until July 2012.
Anyone else think the last round of Shogun Henderson was a 10-8? I thought the fight was a draw, but an epic battle no matter what the decision!

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

Bellator FC looks pretty sick and cheaper than UFC and Strikeforce tickets.

Highlights of last week's event.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

Kazushi "The Gracie Hunter" Sakuraba tribute. IMO Greatest ww in his era and perhaps the greatest of all time. Weighing at 167 and fighting heavyweights!

Notable wins over : Carlos Newton, Vitor Belfort, Royler Gracie, Royce Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Ryan Gracie, Quinton Jackson, Kevin Randleman, Ken Shamrock.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

In 2003, HBO aired a documentary titled "The Smashing Machine" which dealt with the life and career of Mark Kerr. The program chronicles Kerr's addiction to painkillers and the "no holds barred" aspect of early mixed martial arts competition. Kerr's then-girlfriend, Dawn Staples, and mixed-martial artists Ken Shamrock, Bas Rutten, Kevin Randleman and Mark Coleman also appear in the film.

i'll have to watch that, I also watched a documentary film today,

HBO's America Undercover documented Eklund's life for a period of 18 months. The resulting 1995 documentary, High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell, followed Eklund and two other crack addicts in Lowell as their lives spiraled out of control. The documentary ends with Eklund being sentenced to prison.

In the 1980s, Eklund became addicted to crack cocaine, effectively ending his fighting career in 1985. To support his habit, he turned to crime. Eklund was sentenced to 10-to-15 years in prison for breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, kidnapping, masked armed robbery, and several other crimes; he was paroled in 1999.
