FBI File on Edward and Theodore Bentz

This file concerns Edward and Theodore Bentz, fugitives sought in connection with bank robberies and the fraudulent negotiation of American Express travelers cheques. American Express sent the Bureau of Identification circulars and reward material in October 1933, asking that Theodore Bentz be circulated as wanted. A March 1934 FBI memorandum records authorization for the Chicago office to tap an American Railway Express Agency wire after Michigan State Police information suggested that the Bentz brothers might be with John Dillinger and Charles Arthur Floyd. The released material consists of company correspondence, a fugitive circular and reward notice, and an internal FBI wiretap authorization dated 1933-1934.
