This file concerns FBI assistance to British police during the search for the Yorkshire Ripper, the serial killer responsible for murders and attacks on women in West Yorkshire. In February 1978, the FBI relayed British information to Tampa and Los Angeles authorities to check for similarities with local homicide series; both offices reported no apparent connection. The records include teletype messages, Legal Attache London memoranda, and dissemination records from February and March 1978. A September 1979 Albuquerque report records a caller's claim that a televised voice tape of the purported Ripper resembled a man she had known, and asks that the lead be sent to the London legal attache.
