Re: Victims of the Bombing of Dresden in World War II

The last picture IS striking, I don't understand how her flesh could be burned off her bones yet her hair is untouched. Can anyone explain ?
Id say she was frozen mummified, looks like ice or frost on her.

Re: Victims of the Bombing of Dresden in World War II

shame the rest of Germany didn,t get the same
Could be a small error on the part of allied bomber command not to repeat the same acts all over Germany.

But then again if such act was carried out by allied bombers then we would not have had Mercedes Benz and BMW super luxury cars in our garages now would we?

You might want to look up something called German Underground and also (as they showed on Hogan's Heroes once) there was some Germans from the U.S. forced into the German army by our government to act as spies and help us.

Furthermore wiping entire races and nations out isn't the way to win and prevent future wars..Sure you win in the end result but you also kill many who didn't even want a war and just wanted to go about their daily lives. The idea is to kill off the brutal leadership and help a friendly leadership into power and help them rule their country peacefully.

I think Winston Churchill once said, "Payback's a bloody bitch, and in Dresden we were on the rag!"

That's kind of tough when your leadership up until 1 day before your country surrendered was ordering imaginary armies to attack and counter attack the Russians...

Re: Victims of the Bombing of Dresden in World War II

On regards to the casualties mentioned, the estimation actually goes in the range of 250.000 to 350.000, more than Nagasaki or Hiroshima in Japan.
The germans lost count of the killed. Many victims died due to lack of oxygen. A great fire storm was created by the incendiary bombs.
This is a more realistic figure. The fire bombing of Dresden took to my heart, as i asked why, why why? By researching I discovered that Dresden was a hospital city, and many people were flocking to it at a time when Typhus was spreading through the labour camps of the Nazis, and no, there was no Holocaust. Holocaust translates to "burnt whole" or "whole burnt" The real Holocaust was committed by the allies in the fire bombing of Dresden, and numbers were reduced to 25 grand so it made good propaganda. Dresden was a deliberate attempt to kill everyone in the city, prior to this, not one bomb was dropped on 'the hospital city', not one, and the raids took everyone by complete surprise, even the Ambos and fire crews that was hit with a second wave as they were trying to put out the fires from the first raid. The only justification for the MOD delbertaely burning a city to the ground I feel, was to isolate the rampant spreading of Typhus as many 1000's headed to the city to get away from infected areas. The end then justified the means to eliminate the spread of Typhus and prevent another European plague.
