Normal is the shorter sword about forearms length (forget name).
Make a cross shape in your own chest then cut it out in one circle without showing any sign of pain.

This is not a seppuku, this is a harakiri, which are basically the same, but as the text says, seppuku it done with a tanto. The assistant then hits the suicider's neck, but doesn't cut it completely so it won't drop down. This person commits a harakiri, which is a bit more gruel. He cuts his intenstines with a katana and is then shot. Faster way, usually done in battle.
