These are actually much more peaceful than I expected. It's hard to believe the one child died of congestion of the lungs. I realize it was in the 1800s, but it just shows how far we have come. Awesome post!

The Little Willie poem was an odd accompaniment to the 2nd photo. My favorite Little Willie poem has always been - Little Willie with a thirst for gore, nailed his sister to the door. Mother said, with humor quaint, 'careful Will, don't mar the paint.' |
