I believe the injured person deserves compensation, but not from the boy's family. I'd say the train company is to blame.

The train company is to blame for doing it's job and having a train on the tracks? It's not the train companies fault that someone stepped in front of one of their trains. This is nothing more than bad luck and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fate if you will. The kid died, the woman will recover. She does not deserve 'compensation' for bad luck and bad timing.
Sue the fates. Actions and consequence...the kids family aren't to blame. The kid paid the price for his lack of thought. Why should anyone have to 'pay' money to anyone. That's sick in my opinion.
