42,114 Died in 2020 from slipping and falling. You're looking at the average from all years of data on slipping and falling. compared to the total of one year of gun violence. Which half of those numbers are suicide.

I should have included that I personally don't think suicide is gun violence. My original comment was lacking. The joke I was trying to make is that you're more likely to die from falling than be shot by someone with a gun in the USA.

Austin Thompson is a teenage murdering psychopath. I don't scare whatever reasons he may or may not have had to do these things, or that he was 15, I don't give a fuck. Frankly he needs to die and go to fucking hell. It's just a shame he didn't die from his injuries and is now recovering. Families of victims shouldn't have to sit through a trial and look at all those horrific crime scene photos, just so he can get off the hook like Cruz, it's bullshit. Calm down. You've been affected emotionally by the details of the case, which is completely natural, but allowing oneself to be governed by one's emotions is the reason things like this happen in the first place.

It is perfectly possible to say yes to your question and STILL be honest to myself. Yes, I would be outraged, but no, I would not seek the death penalty.

If the man is convicted, sentenced, and eventually executed, then subsequently found innocent of all charges, how would I live that down? Don't tell me that can't happen because it HAS happened, MANY times, and THAT is what's wrong with letting yourself be guided by your emotions. You do things you might later regret, and if our government acts in the same mercurial fashion then what separates US from the people who commit these kinds of crimes?

To a person, all of these mass shooters have let themselves be governed by their emotions and caprices, not by rational thought.
