Thomas Matthew Crooks, the gunman who tried to assassinate Donald Trump a week ago, was able to fly a camera-equipped drone over the fairgrounds near Butler, Pennsylvania, shortly before the former president was set to speak there.

The last search Thomas Crooks made on his cellphone before attempting to assassinate Donald Trump was for pornography, a senior law enforcement source has told.

The source, who asked not to be named, said the FBI’s Operational Technology Division in Quantico, Va., made the discovery when it finally gained access to 20-year-old Crooks’ encrypted Samsung phone. Initial attempts at the Pittsburgh field office to crack open the Android device failed, and it was taken to Quantico on an FBI plane.

The only other recent activity on the phone were texts from his parents asking where he was. The source says the parents thought their son had taken the AR-style rifle and gone to the shooting range where he sometimes practiced.

The texts began around 1 p.m. and continued throughout the afternoon.

“By 6 p.m. he was dead,” the source said.

According to the source, the FBI has largely completed its examination of the phone and is now at work on the gunman’s laptop and a number of hard drives that were recovered from his bedroom.

The agents hope to find clues as to why someone with no clear political motivation or a known psychiatric disorder clambered on a rooftop at a Trump rally in Butler, Pa. with an assault rifle and attempted to kill Trump.

The head of the United States Secret Service is stepping down over the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, after days of mounting pressure and criticism for failing to prevent the shooting.

Kimberly Cheatle sent an email to staff on Tuesday announcing her plans to step down.

She had been under pressure from US lawmakers to resign as questions continue to swirl around security protocols at Trump’s July 13 rally in Pennsylvania, where the former president and Republican presidential nominee was shot in the ear.

“I take full responsibility for the security lapse,” Cheatle said in the email to staff. “In light of recent events, it is with a heavy heart that I have made the difficult decision to step down as your director.”

I would say the big takeaways from it were:
- 8 Bullet casings confirmed near Crooks body.
-New footage taken from atop the roof Crooks was on (video starts shortly before this).
-The water tower in the video was left unmanned and had the most visibility of the rally (including Crooks rooftop position)
-Two butler police that had left their station to look for crooks would have seen him on the roof if they stayed at their post.
-Strange questioning by Rep. Crane, insinuating multiple shooters, the facts don't add up, the Crooks home was 'fishy'... possibly no garbage or silverware at site; 'extremely clean, like a medical lab'.

I might watch the Wray testimony later, I don't think much information will come out of it.
