Re: Texas to Stop Last Meal Requests for Death Row Inmates
Mercy or severity? If you lived somewhere where the system is authoritarian, you'd catch and kill a lot of criminals, but you'd kill a lot of innocents too. Those are systems that revolve around "you deserve it, you lost your humanity when you did...". Being a hard-ass doesn't fix much of what is wrong with society. As far as the money concern goes, it is much more complicated than that. The U.S. has huge military and international expenditures. We spend billions keeping things stable with transnational traffickers and gangs. Last meals for death-row inmates are NOT an issue. The number of death row inmates are in the thousands, not millions. It won't free a fraction of the money needed to improve schools. Sorry, but that comment was just ignorant. |

yaaaahhh ! Its about time. Look how much the $$$ the jail will save . They need all the money they can get. Ive read some of the last meal requests , fuck that . A nice plate of warm dog shit , wash it down with a cold glass of puke, for the one that fucked up kids etc , and a plate of worms for the rest. The last meal request is insulting to the victim.

Re: Texas to Stop Last Meal Requests for Death Row Inmates
It's not so much sympathy as it is a parting gift. And it doesn't save jails money. I mean, jails are loaded with money already and are cesspools where petty crooks learn how to be big timers. Let's do something about that, and worry less about a DR inmate's (who's already been at the joint some ten to twenty years) porter-house.
