It's not red, blue, gay, straight, guns or no guns, it's a combination of social media, screen violence, and bad parenting...period. No coincidence that school shootings spiked in the early 90s, which was about the same time Al Gore invented the Internet. And as social media became more widespread, violence more graphic, and shitty parenting even shittier, school shootings continued to rise, and unfortunately, will continue and get worse yet. It's really too bad, because this runaway train isn't stopping.

My thought regarding the first step in minimizing future school shootings is...don't sell a gun to a kid that needs a FUCKING HAIRCUT!

Not that I don't sympathize with your original point though, and I don't think you're like that mother or can't be assed with making things better. I think it's hard to love a place, work hard to improve it, but watch what progress you've been able to make be ignored when tragedy like this hits.

But in all seriousness, yeah, you're right. It's really fucking sad we keep seeing this happen again and again and again and after the initial shit fling match pretend that nothing happened (at least in any meaningful way).

And I'll say, as an Arizonan, it's very convenient to walk in a gun store and come out with a gun in 20-30 min, but to think it took me more effort to get a drivers license is fucking insane. Hell, it was more of a pain submitting a claim to my GAP insurance then it was obtaining any of the guns I have.
