I suppose I could google and look at statistics, but seeing as I consider most to be either fabricated entirely or designed to mislead it would be pointless. It is a hot topic at the moment in Europe as is cops killing so called innocent black people in America so it is getting lots of column inches. |

No one meddled in Ukraine. They wanted in on the piece (peace) of the pie, sacrificed weapons of mass destruction in exchange we (and europe) be there to save their ass if and or when Russia picks on them.

When they left the former Soviet Union, there were a lot of conditions attached, the troops and navy base in Crimea was only part of it. When east Germany fell, Russia agreed to not become involved as long as NATO stopped expansion..... Russia still had legal rights of occupation through the German unconditional surrender. Unfortunately for Russia, Gorbachev settled for a gentlemen's agreement on the issue and got nothing in writing. Not long afterward unified Germany joined NATO, and other former soviet republics soon followed. Ukraine is Russia's line in the sand, against the expansion of an organization it sees as hostile. |
