The mayor of Las Margaritas, Mexico, Jorge Luis Escandón Hernández, was tied to a pickup truck and dragged through the streets by protesters. They required paving roads. Escandón suffered minor injuries.
It took dozens of police officers to stop the truck driver and save the mayor.
Protesters clashed with police, and 11 of them were arrested and taken to the local police station.
Police were reinforced in the region to prevent further rioting.
