Not if he's extradited to the US and spends the rest of his life at ADX Florence
Sure pal. That never happened in the US.

Re: Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Arrested

This makes absolutely no difference.

At the most it will create a power vacuum in the areas he controlled, that is if his organization doesn't already have a successor in place ( most likely they do ).
As long as the market is there, someone will be willing to take the risk. Killing Pablo Escobar didn't solve a damn thing either.

Not really sure why you posted a picture of Al Capone, he's actually a really good example of how imprisoning a leader can totally destroy the former leader's criminal empire.

This is also a silly argument, you're basically saying we will never wipe out the crime of murder so why bother arresting murderers.

And the death of Pablo Escobar did in fact do quite a bit, Columbia is far better off now than it was under the reign of Escobar. The cocaine cartels there have been decimated, and many of the armed gangs such as FARC that used to support the cartels have been forced into making peace with the government. Things aren't perfect of course, but that doesn't mean nothing has been done.

The violence has not been eradicated, but to state we should stop fighting crime just because crime will never been eliminated is the most ridiculous argument I've ever heard.

You're a fuckin idiot, sorry, but obviously nobody at home has been telling you the truth.

The war on drugs is an abysmal failure. Cocaine now is cheaper and purer than at any time in history.

All the death of Escobar did was shift the balance of power closer to your own borders. Mexico is a damn warzone, the illegal drug industry has decimated that Nation.

lets give this a year and see if it in any way slows the flow of drugs or even raises the price. This will not do a damn thing, all that happens is someone else will fill the void and supply the demand.
Prohibition has never worked, they tried to stamp out marijuana for the last 80 years and they are finally giving up.
This doesn't have anything to do with murder, murder is a side effect of the illegal black market associated with the drug trade. legalize it and it all stops tomorrow, its that simple.

You ever read Einstein's theory of insanity? Its repeating the same mistake and expecting a different result. This is all supply and demand, its that fucking simple.

Re: Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Arrested

I never thought they would catch this guy. My professor of modern Mexican History, use to hang out with him in the early 1980's. The info on him from someone first hand was astounding and very eye opening to the operations and constructions of the modern cartels. Had to be someone making a buck, the numerous numbers of peoples in US and MX governments, who allow the shipments to enter unmolested, work with people like El Chapo. I need to go talk with my old professor.

You're a classic example of someone who is too stupid to actually do research, repeating the same old "drug war is a failure" bs over and over again.

Drug use has actually declined in the U.S. by 50% since the 1970s, despite a correspondingly large increase in population. So without the war on drugs, the drug epidemic in the US would possibly be A LOT worse than it is today.

To say we should stop fighting drugs because the country still uses it is like saying we should stop fighting crime because criminals will keep committing it anyway. Your line of thought is the ultimate in being a fucking idiot.

Since better crime fighting methods have been implemented, both drug use and violent crime is dramatically down all over the United States. Just because it still exists (and probably always will) doesn't mean we should stop fighting it.

Dumb hick.

Because he ran his origination in prison. Also he was treated very differently then other inmates.

10% of the population is dumb enough to admit to drug use in writing. You suppose that there's a few more that maybe don't feel comfortable admitting that?

The other half of those numbers that you conveniently ignore is that since the 1970's draconian drug laws have been implemented, giving small time offenders long prison sentences that cost EVERYBODY billions a year.

The prison population has TRIPLED since 1980, the same time that drug use started going down, and America now has 25% of the prisoners on this fucking planet....... And over half of those people in prison ARE THERE FOR DRUG OFFENCES.

Fucking idiot.

Xfactor, go back and read your history. If there's one thing that is certain about Al Capone, it's that he ended up at Alcatraz where he was cut off from communicating with his former colleagues, and that this destroyed any influence he once had in the criminal underworld.

It's very well known that he was cut off from giving orders, lost all his power, and died in poverty. Imprisoning him effectively destroyed the immense power he had over Chicago crime. You bringing up his story is in fact the best possible example in all of history where imprisoning a criminal leader can destroy his empire.

You retarded piece of shit, the numbers are based on many different studies all saying the same thing. But you're so ignorant, I give you the facts and you still won't believe them.

3 times more people are in jails today because law enforcement has become more efficient at locking up these idiots and losers. I'd rather pay billions of dollars and keep these morons locked up rather than have them on the street pushing drugs and causing violent crime.

Crime and violence is way down. Drug use is way down. Oh wait - you're claiming the drug users are all just lying. Well are all the criminal statisticians in all the major US cities lying too? Fucking idiot. No wonder so little ever gets done in the US, it's full of retards like you.

Oh well, judging from your pro-drug stance I'm sure it's only a matter of time before you end up in jail along with the rest of your friends.
