HIV-infected Baby Tested Negative For The Virus After Aggressive Treatments
Researchers announced this week that a baby infected with HIV, or human immunodeficiency virus, is currently testing negative for the virus after aggressive drug treatments. The infant, born in Long Beach, California, in 2013, is the second such baby reportedly cured of the disease. Quote:

There's been a cure since it's existence, just look at Magic Johnson he's going on 25 years since he announced he had it.

Re: HIV-infected Baby Tested Negative For The Virus After Aggressive Treatments
I guess there is no law to force the mother to keep up with the baby's medicine? I'm referring to the baby whose mother stopped giving the medication at 18 months. Although there have been cases where medical treatment has been ordered by courts for minors. This reminds me of an episode of Law and Order: SVU where a quack doctor convinced an HIV positive mother to stop medication for herself and her HIV positive children.

Re: HIV-infected Baby Tested Negative For The Virus After Aggressive Treatments
According to the most recent studies, a human affected by HIV who enters care has almost the same life expectancy of those without HIV; however, 30 to 40 % of people with HIV fail to either enter or stay in care after their initial diagnosis in the USA, in Italy the mortality rate dropped from100% (1984) to 5,7% (wich is one of the lowest, if not the lowest in the world), BUT about the half of those infected fail to enter cares. Sadly, about the 65% of the people that are currently infected with HIV are in Sub-Saharan Africa, where is much harder to enter cares for many reasons: meds are too expensive, lack of informations, lack of hiv testing etcetera. Tere's still much work to do, but steps like this one are really encouraging. |

Hopefully one day it will be eradicated. But there are the conspiracy theories that some diseases can be cured but the treatments aren't released because Big Pharma makes too much money off of treating diseases, rather than curing them. ![]() |
