What I find really hilarious about Fred Phelps is that he's not even really the church's founder. The church he was a part of beforehand built the Westboro Baptist Church, and Fred just stole a section of their congregation and appropriated the church for himself.

I ment to say the pagan's kept the protestors back. They showed up and the bikers had the whole area lined. Anonymous hacked into the church twitter or Facebook and found out they were showing up at the funerals so the word got out. I'm still surprised they all left in one piece.

The Westboros are like professional real-life trolls: they set up protests in the hopes that someone assaults them or otherwise infringes upon their "rights," and then they turn around and fire off lawsuits in as many directions as they can manage -- and usually win. It's not their main source of income and it's not why they do what they do, but it's one more way in which they antagonize those who are unfortunate enough to share proximity with them; it's also one of the main reasons that they don't get their shit handed to them on a physical basis whenever they slither onto the scene to spread their message. The truly sad part about their protests is that so few of them actually show up in the same place at the same time; my guess is that if all 70-some-odd members of the church decided to hold one big protest, odds are someone would open fire on the lot of 'em.

Speaking of Anonymous vs. The WBC, I wonder if the contact information on the list Anon released is still current.

I first saw him when I was 10, picketing in topeka with little tiny kids holding stick figure signs that were screwing saying god hates ****.... I had to live with his "fame" growin up in kansas, then he comes to AZ and screws with our hot shots, bastard, you got pulled from your evil leadership and your contract with hell is ready to be cashed in!! I would love to say I'd join you on that but I have a family to raise. The jail time isn't worth it for me.
