Enfield Stabbing

NEIGHBOURS have described the chilling screams of a mum and her three daughters as they were stabbed in a brutal attack, as horror photos show blood stains in the North London home's bedroom.

An eleven-year-old girl remains in a critical condition after the "appalling" knifing, with a 44-year-old man now being quizzed by cops on suspicion of attempted murder.

The woman, in her 30s, and three girls, all aged under 12, were found at the Enfield home with serious stab injuries just after midday yesterday.

And images of the home have revealed white curtains stained with blood.

A 51-year-old man who lives nearby told MyLondon he had been listening to the radio when he heard screams.

He said: "I was listening to the radio and heard these screams. They were screaming over and over like ‘ah, ah, ah’.

"I rushed out the front and loads of people were outside. I saw this girl who lives across the road run over with water and towels to help them stop the blood.

"I saw the woman lying outside as she was treated - she looked really bad and her daughter was there too in very bad shape.

"The girl who was helping, she went back to the house and just collapsed into this guy’s arms. She burst into tears - it must have been so horrible for her."

Another neighbour said: "I heard screaming and then I saw a woman lying down on the ground where the (police) tent is."

Police had rushed to the Enfield home on Livingstone Road after receiving reports a woman had been injured.

When they arrived, they found the mum and her daughters badly injured - arresting the 44-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

He remains at a North London police station for questioning.

The mum and two of the children are now in a non-life threatening condition. The 11-year-old girl remains in a critical condition.

Witness
The neighbour said he saw a man being arrested at the top of the street.

He said: “The police were here so quickly - they shouted at him ‘stay here, don’t move’ and grabbed hold of him.”

He said the Mum was “private” but “friendly”.

He said: “She’s a nice person - I believe she’s from Holland originally.

“They are a very private family but any time I’ve spoken to her she’s been really friendly.

"The kids are playful, it’s so sad what’s happened. I really hope they all pull through.”

The woman who rushed to aid of the family could not speak today as she is “too traumatised”.

A couple on the street said they “completely shocked” anything like this would happen.

The wife said: “I only know her to say hello to but she seems lovely. The kids are really nice.

“This is a very quiet street, I’ve never seen or heard anything untoward coming from their house.”

AN APPALLING ATTACK
Detective Sergeant Joe Stewart from Enfield CID said: "This was an appalling attack on a woman and her young children. They have sustained very serious injuries. Our thoughts are with them as they continue to receive vital treatment in hospital.

“Attacks like this on such young people are extremely rare. At this early stage of the investigation, we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident.

"The attacker was known to the victims. There is no further risk to the public at this time.

“The family have understandably want privacy at this difficult time and do not wish to speak with media.

“If you have information about this incident I would urge you to get in touch and speak with investigators.”

Livingstone Road was closed on Saturday at the junction with the North Circular Road (A406) while police inquiries continue.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD3735/06July or Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111.

Luckily knife crime isn't as widespread as gun crime is in the US. But that's mainly because ordinary English people don't carry knives, or any weapon in fact.
