Re: Child Dies at Kansas Schlitterbahn on World's Tallest Water Slide
Charges dismissed by the judge. "Illegally shown evidence." And I've still seen no good photos of this incident... :-( |

Re: Child Dies at Kansas Schlitterbahn on World's Tallest Water Slide
Also, since this has been necro'd, just to clarify. I rode this - there was no waiver or anything you had to sign. You simply showed up, signed up for a slot if you were early in the morning, or waited in line for about an hour if you didn't show up in time to sign up, were weighed privately behind a curtain to verify you met requirements. Then after walking to the top, you were weighed a second time, before being told in what order you were to sit, based on that weighing. Then you strapped in and waited for the creep forward, then the drop. My Velcro held fine. On the initial drop, it felt like almost borderline free-fall due to the speed, but by the time I hit that peak, the speed had dropped significantly. Disappointed though... the only part of you that really got wet at all on that slide, is your ankles as you walked out of the pool at the end... |

There’s still plenty of water parks that use those metal “safety nets” over their rides...Sure you won’t fly off the ride, but being launched into a human cheese grater isn’t any better.

The fat "sow" probably added so much weight that the raft went too fast and the extra mass drove the boy's head deep into the wire net and had enough momentum (Mass X Velocity) to sever it. DR lesson: don't get on a waterpark slide with a farting porker. "Burger King bathroom"? How could you? |

Totally Sowish, and exactly the reason they should just install troughs in Burger King bathrooms. That's to say, the sound of you making love into her betters may be a beneficial motivator. |

Re: Child Dies at Kansas Schlitterbahn on World's Tallest Water Slide
I know this is years old, but I'm still shocked by the basic nature of the failure. Having gathered speed down that first drop, even a 5-year old could predict that the riders will go through a negative-G moment at the crest of the hump causing them to leave the 'track'. Roller Coasters that are designed to do this have a wheels on the underside of the track to prevent the coaster leaving the track completely. Basic design failure. |
