Re: Brzezinski: US Should Deploy Troop to Baltics
There is a very clear rise of fascism in europe, no denying that, nor is there any way to deny the role these ultra nationalists are playing in the Ukraine. That being said I still have mixed emotions over this conflict, is Putin really the aggressor, why is the west supporting these ultra nationalists, is the pro Russian side really a popular movement, does the contested area really want to split from the Ukraine? We all know all outside forces are looking to their best interest over the best interests of the people living in these contested areas, this is a no brainier... doesn't matter who it is Obama or Putin or whatever other nations are involved. Do we support these nationalists then have them turn around and attack us like with the mujaheddin, or let Russia take more land and risk him becoming more and more aggressive towards the west... its a complicated situation. |

Re: Brzezinski: US Should Deploy Troop to Baltics
^^^^^ exactly. Everybody in our part of the world jumped on the anti Putin bandwagon, because it was in our governments interests to see the expansion of NATO. Everybody conveniently forgets that the government of Ukraine was illegally overthrown, with alleged help from western nations, and that there are extreme right wing elements in both the Ukraine government and fighting for the Ukraine. It's really ironic that people are comparing Putin to hitler, when it's the Russian elements that are fighting the neo nazis on the battlefield. |

Re: Brzezinski: US Should Deploy Troop to Baltics
It was people protesting that outed the Russian puppet in office, not some western backed right wing conspiracy. It was similar to the arab spring uprisings, all over social media. The new person in office was actually elected by the people in a landslide. Just because people that associate themselves with right wingers and Nazi elements fighting on the side of Ukraine, it in no way makes Ukraine a distributor of their ideology. It's simply fighters on the ground that are helping the poorly funded Ukrainian military have any chance of stopping Russian tank battalions. |

Re: Brzezinski: US Should Deploy Troop to Baltics
The Russian puppet was elected. There was a procedure in place to remove him under the Ukrainian constitution, but it wasn't followed. No doubt western nations were quick to recognize the election, despite the fact it's completely invalid under Ukrainian constitution........ And equally quick to dismiss the election in Crimea to separate. Complete and utter hypocrisy. And it's not just the battalions full of nazis that are fighting with the Ukrainian army, there are also elements in the new government. And when the fighting with Russia is done, they've made no secret that they plan on doing next, which is controlling Ukraine. Kind of like a nazi mujahideen. |
