Those who are mentally unstable in such a fashion do tend to be overeligious. In fact, it was pretty common for people who have a dual diagnoses (mental disorder and addiction) to go to Dual Diagnoses Anonymous (instead of AA or NA.) because unlike the latter, dual diagnised individuals who suffer from schizotypical tendencies cant or wont have 'god' as their higher power. DDA is just like AA and NA but nonreligious. Religion is dangerous to those (schizotypical) people and can make them relapse as easily as an deep addiction can.

In the Daily Mail (I have to stop reading that shite!), it says they are looking for accomplices who apparently instructed her on what to do and how to do it. If I see any more news reports on that tidbit with more detail I will post here.

Why do people who are mentally ill end up obsessed with religion? Schizophrenics are particularly susceptible to religious mania. People with bipolar or narcissistic personality commonly think they're Gods or talking to God.

Are mentally ill people more likely to believe in a religion, or does religion make you mentally ill? That's a question I'd love to know the answer to.

The thing religion does that would be considered "positive" in society is give meaning and purpose to life. That being said the magical thinking can also compel those with issues to invent delusions that god or whatever they believe applies to them in some way.

The problem today in most countries is the disparity between the wealthy, powerful and the powerless, poor. God is a great way to give meaning and purpose to what is just a shitty life. It can also give people the motivation to strike out against those they believe keep them in their social position or justification for getting rid of other groups who have different beliefs.

This woman is mentally ill but I doubt they are going to great lengths to "help" her as they have published. Once she played the terror card either by her words or her clothes she lost the compassion angle in Russia.

Whatever the reason she is wasting oxygen and needs to be given a one-way ticket to Allah.
