Re: Atheist Teen Forces School to Remove Prayer from Wall After 49 Years

In March 2011, the committee met again to hear public comments on the issue. Twenty-six adults spoke at the meeting, 24 of whom were in favor of keeping banner. Even one speaker who described himself as an atheist threatened to "assemble a group of people to surround the school and protect the Mural," if the ACLU took down the banner, the document states.

At the end of the meeting, committee member Michael Traficante announced the decision to keep the banner in its current state. Later that month, the committee decided to place an explanation next to the banner, detailing its decision to keep the prayer without alteration for "historic and cultural reasons."

The ACLU formally filed suit on April 4, 2011.

The sign remains, the school is appealing

TRAFICANTE!? Really? I'd drop the suit for survivals sake!

Interesting to hear how this girl is in fear of her well-being from the "decent, God-fearing" Christians in her town. Oh, the hypocrisy.

Re: Atheist Teen Forces School to Remove Prayer from Wall After 49 Years

Actually I already know all this. There is no such thing. It's not the law of the land. It's a perversion of the actual law. Or rather an inversion of the original law. Posting a prayer is not the state making a law to establish a religion. And pretending there is a valid law that outlaws students from posting a prayer on school grounds is actually illegally prohibiting the free exercise of religion. Prohibiting that free exercise of religion is actually wrong. I think all the students who disagree with the prohibition should begin to wear the prayer everywhere at the school until the little bitch has to close her eyes to keep from being offended.
Same back at you. However in my case I enjoy watching and reading the legal foolishness of the atheistic goofballs.
So you're saying that you'd have no problem with me putting up a mural/sign that said "Jesus doesn't exist" in a public school?

i'm a Christian and i fully support every atheist's right to disbelieve.

i do not support their right to dismantle everything that offends them. close your eyes, turn away, get a life.

Re: Atheist Teen Forces School to Remove Prayer from Wall After 49 Years

No matter what your religious beliefs, I think removing things such as this is part of reason for all of the troubled youths in the US at least. Don't look at it, if you don't like it. We said the Pledge of Alligience every day at school and I don't think it affected any of us in a harmful way. If you don't want to join in, just stand there and don't say it. I hate the war and loss of so many lives, but, I respect our soldiers and what they do for the rest of us. "In God We Trust". Maybe not, but, I don't think it every killed anyone to say it in this country. I'm still undecided with my beliefs, but, I keep an open mind and if I go into a place or worship, I dress accordingly and respect the beliefs for the short time I'm there out of respect for the people I'm with. To me, it's no big deal.

Youths need something or somebody to believe in.

Believe in yourself.

Again, would you be okay with me putting up a sign that said "Jesus doesn't exist", or with someone else putting up a sign that read "Praise be to Allah!" or "Hail Satan!"?
