Re: Angora Sales Halted Over Rabbit Cruelty Video
I don't even want to watch the video. What I don't get is how is it faster to pluck the fur than it is to shave it? My mom has an angora rabbit and she uses scissors and a shaver to cut her fur. She doesn't do it to profit off of her fur but if the fur gets too long it can tangle and mat. And Regina (the bunny) is used to it and sits very nicely for it. She likes to sit in my mom's lap to be pet anyway. Also, it looks like PETA is where this info originated from and I think they aren't always truthful. It is possible this is true though. And that is just sickening. You couldn't pay me enough to rip an animals fur out. |

Re: Angora Sales Halted Over Rabbit Cruelty Video
I don't understand why everybody thinks China is so "backwards". A couple of fad phenomenons doesn't earn condemnation for the entire country. It wasn't long ago that we had goldfish in our platform shoes, dancing them to death. Have you all seen how we farm chickens in the U.S.? De-beaking is a nightmare. We are no better. Ridiculous racism towards Asians. Not defending this bunny torture practice, but there is no reason to believe any nation is somehow "above" animal cruelty. Or that an entire country is backwards because of a specific practice that in no way is condoned or participated in by everybody in that society, or even the majority of the society. |
