Re: Airline Apologizes For Note on Deaf Couple's Bag

I just don't get why these guys have to be so uptight about everything. They could've easily brought up their issue with the airline directly without turning it into a media frenzy :P
oh absolutely....

like the bitch who burnt her tongue on Mcdonalds coffee.......
dramatic. shit happens. say what you have to say and move on!

Re: Airline Apologizes For Note on Deaf Couple's Bag

Being deaf doesn't make you 'special'. It makes you disabled.
I don't know why they are insisting this is a moral outrage just because they found something offensive. They were so ready to be offended without even knowing what they're whining about.
I think the airline should sue this couple for unwarranted defamation of character
I'm deaf, have been all my lfie but I only ever noticed the drawbacks when I was aged 11.

People will put you in the "dumb fuck" category when you mishear them or dont hear them.

You may think it is bullshit but its the truth.

Re: Airline Apologizes For Note on Deaf Couple's Bag

Really? I'd just laugh.
My maternal grandmother is legally a midget (4'7") I'm 5'10" and we get the strangest looks from people in public for some of the oddball things my grandma does to make up for her handicap ( like setting a pile of phone books on the drivers seat so she can see over the steering wheel ). People expect me to be the driver and her to be the passenger, not the other way around. She's been on the receiving end of many unintentional insults from socially awkward strangers and never lets herself get offended by it - She actually tells more irreverent midget jokes then anyone we've run into on the street.

Good for her! I knew a guy who lost an arm and leg in a work-related accident. He used to make jokes about it all the time.

He'd say, for example, "I'd lend you a hand, but, the last person never returned my other one." He'd clap the one hand against the small part of the arm that was left. Some people get freaked out when people make the best out of what they have.

I think this was simply a case of someone whose first language wasn't English who wasn't up on all the politically correct changes.

Is there a new word to replace dumb? I would have just said deaf and cannot speak.

What a PITA, (the pc)!

I know plenty of people who have their hearing who are dumb fucks!

Some are just rude and cannot imagine themselves in your or another person's shoes.

We all zone out and don't hear sometimes, or we have selective hearing.

And I'll bet the woman would have bitched if her coffee was cold. I did that in a car.

I put a cup of hot tea between my knees and burnt my upper legs. I was wearing stockings, which didn't help.

I knew it was my own stupid fault!

Re: Airline Apologizes For Note on Deaf Couple's Bag

im 4'11...... midget jokes are a package deal lol
idk I think its because the word dumb, despite the actual definition, is insulting it would hurt my feelers
I thought the pc word was dwarf or little person, except for wrestlers.

I love Peter Dinklage's attitude. He refuses to go to conventions of little people and lives in NY where, although you see a lot on the streets, people do notice him. He doesn't give a shit!

Married an average height woman, has at least one child and smokes. It was once believed that smoking stunts your growth.

And Marlee Matlin didn't let her deafness stop her from doing anything!

I thought dumb meant stupid.
It does, but, it also refers to people who cannot speak.

Re: Airline Apologizes For Note on Deaf Couple's Bag

I highly doubt that a parent of a deaf and dumb child doesn't realise that the dumb part means mute. I have a deaf and dumb brother and we've always used that term as do most people.

IMO she's just being a touchy cunt.
