Exactly how was HIS withdrawal going to be ANY different?
With only 3000 troops in place, just HOW would it have been different?
Against 100,000 Taliban, half of them wearing explosive vests?

It could have ended TWO ways.
A. One way is we don't flex our muscles, (BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANY MUSCLE THERE!) the Taliban leaves us alone to evacuate everyone (which is largely DONE now, by the way. They say there are less than 1000 Americans left in Afghanistan, and since they haven't been able to reach them via computer email, telephone calls, or calls to where they are supposed to be living, they aren't even sure if the number is actually THAT high. Many could have left already.) and also move thousands of Afghan involvees (People that worked for us). We get OUT by August 31st, and no problem.

B. We flex the muscle we don't have (My next door neighbor, who is an A-10 crew chief, told me yesterday that we have NO A-10s left in Afghanistan AT ALL!)
The Taliban get incensed. Or maybe only 1/3rd of them get incensed. The leaders hold back 2/3rds of their followers, telling them to toe the line. But that still leaves the 1/3rd who want to see dead Americans. So they attack the Kabul airport, and in 3 hours, the fighting is over with.
The transport aircraft there are destroyed, they capture between 500 and 1000 surviving U.S. Soldiers, and there are NO FURTHER EVACUATIONS of ANY KIND.
ALL the involvees are trapped, ALL the remaining Americans are now hostages, and the executions, burnings, and shootings begin.

The collapse of Afghanistan DID NOT start when Biden announced the immediate withdrawal. It has been going on for a MONTH NOW. By last week, 75% of Afghanistan had been taken by the Taliban.

Now, smart guy, if YOU are Biden, what will you do? Do the best you can in a really bad and dangerous situation?
That's what Biden did. He got the situation resolved as good as he could, with a minimum number of deaths, and a maximum number of recovered soldiers, citizens and involvees.

I know what Trump would have done. He would have royally fucked the entire situation up with his huge mouth and tiny brain, pissed off the Afghans, left thousands dead in Kabul, and would not have saved ANYONE.

THAT'S WHAT YOUR TRUMP WOULD HAVE DONE.

Luckily, Biden did what was required, did NOT flex our non-existent muscles, and has successfully moved nearly everyone out of Kabul. We may not get everyone out, but we sure got most of them.

I am thinking of starting up a "Trump Corps". These would be heavily-armed Americans who think they know how to fight the Taliban, and they would be air-dropped into Afghanistan to teach those Afghans a lesson.

We could argue these Biden vs. Trump fuckups all day long. We can wag the finger at anyone and everyone clear back to Bush, who is the one who put us there in the first place. All of them are motivated by something other than OUR BEST INTERESTS... how obvious can that be? Instead of bickering about who's fucking fault it is (there are MANY to blame)... let's commiserate on how, in general, we as American's are fucked regardless because we can't do jack shit about any of this. And specifically if we are busy going back and forth about the past, who's to blame for this, that, and the other.

Personally, I think making any agreements in any fashion with the Taliban is ABSURD and goes against everything we are supposed to stand for. Take what we know about the situation and who we believe to responsible... and know that there is a SHIT TON we do NOT know. That, to me, is VERY scary.

Just my two cents. I loathe Trump and Biden seems to have no backbone. Yes, we all disagree on many, many things other than the fact that we are fucked. Take away the accusations and finger pointing... and tell me, what can be done about any of it? Realistically and rationally... I am asking... what can we, as US citizens with no political power do other than witness SOME of what's going on and spend our time further dividing ourselves as a society?

What would be the nature of his Faux Pas?
Getting nearly everyone out without excessive deaths, and without provoking the Taliban to massacre everyone? Would that be the one?
On the news tonight, they reported only 500 American citizens left in Afghanistan, and the Army and the CIA are running missions with helicopters to pick them up in groups at organized pickup points. We have 4 days left until the end, and it looks like they will not only evacuate all, or nearly all, of the Americans, but will have removed most of the involvees, and now a huge number of women, such as the entire Afghani Female Robot Team, and thousands of others who are now at risk. Reportedly 12,700 in the last 24 hours alone. The largest number of Afghans is 897 in a single flight of a C-17. If everything holds together for the next 4 days, it will have been a stunning success.

Everyone looked at me like I was insane. I was a loser, a defeatist, an idiot, etc. etc. They were all hooting and hollering, yelling "GO USA!!" and talking about how we were going to kick their asses. There must have been 100 guys cheering. Total jubilation! We were at WAR!
But it turns out, 20 years later, that I WAS absolutely correct.
Except I told them 10 years, and it actually has been 20, and I said 10,000 U.S. dead, and it has only reached 2500. Thank God for that. I don't mind being wrong about the death predictions.
