Oh..I assumed they'd drowned, though one report on sunrise this morning did say something about being 'crushed to death' and that the first responders described the scene as 'horrific'

Bloody hell. I've been on this ride many times.... Can't believe it! I live close to Dreamworld and it's a favourite day out for our family. Will never be the same :'(

Likewise I live not too far from Dreamworld. A friend of mine is one of the police forensic photographers for Gold Coast / Brisbane and was called out to the incident. I'd like to see the photos he took, out of morbid curiosity, but there's zero chance of that happening. Being right at the end of the ride and with dozens of people close by there will no doubt be some photos or video on peoples cameras / phones. At least one of the victims was being described as being "caught up in machinery" . The most bloody tragic thing was that according to witnesses on Channel 7 news one of the victims small children saw the whole thing unfold in front of her. A horribly sad day for the the victims families, onlookers and emergency personnel and the Gold Coast in general which relies heavily on tourism and its awesome theme parks.

Dreamworld accident: Kids in hospital after ride tragedy

It's "almost a miracle" two children escaped the Dreamworld tragedy that claimed four lives on Tuesday afternoon, police say.

Queensland Police Assistant Commissioner Brian Codd said two young girls, 10 and 13, escaped a raft on the Thunder River Rapids ride as it flipped, killing four adults on board.

The rapid ride fatalities come after a string of safety problems at the theme park. Vision courtesy Seven Network.

CCTV captured the whole incident and police have been poring over the footage to determine the cause.

Mr Codd said the ride, which could remain a crime scene for two or three days, had "an apparent misoperation or some catastrophe", causing the raft to flip backwards.

Yes, apparently a young girl ( 11 or 12) was minding her infant sibling while her mum, uncle and uncles boyfriend rode the ride. They were all killed, so she was left alone with the baby. I believe her grandmother will be taking them in. Just heartbreaking :'(
