Re: Chinese Gangster Gets Beaten at Restaurant
Of course, it wasn’t. China doesn’t work like that. Not that there aren’t gangs, but they definitely do NOT do stupid stuff like this in public. China is heavily monitored and would shut something like that down in an instant. The assailant here very likely has to pay for all of the victim’s medical expenses, a pain and suffering fee, and any damages to the restaurant. Either that or jail time. |

Re: Chinese Gangster Gets Beaten at Restaurant
I’m not sure if you are aware of this or not, but for future reference, when ascertaining authoritative definitions for the English language, the definitive resource is the OED or Oxford English Dictionary. With that said, if you are fluent in English, then surely you are aware that the word is “gang” is not limited to criminal activity. Please see the attached screenshot from the OED entry for “gang”. It is entry number 8d. Please reference it to learn more about the varied usage of this word. |

Re: Chinese Gangster Gets Beaten at Restaurant
Thank you for your condescending mansplination. Of course I know the word "gang" is not limited to criminal activity. But as far as this discussion is concerned, it is. It even says so in the very page you just uploaded. And there is no need to use an "authoritative", and "definitive" dictionary, to understand that it means both. Or are you not fluent enough in the English language to fully understand what the discussion is about? Or maybe you're just being obstinate. And when claiming a source as "authoritative", and "definitive", you might want to familiarize yourself on how and when to use such words. See below what it says about where I got the definition. For future reference of course. |

Re: Chinese Gangster Gets Beaten at Restaurant
At this point, you’re just trolling because at no point in your above reply did you address the usage of “gang” and how you explicitly claimed it to refer to criminal activity by definition when the OED clear as day refutes this obviously uninformed claim. Also, since Google’s dictionary is sourced from the OED, the fact that you seemingly cherry picked one usage and claimed that as the sole meaning is not a good look. Perhaps, be more thorough in your understanding next time since the definition I provided should have been available to you if you actually took the time to read through the definitions listed in your own source material. But I’ll ignore you for now since feeding trolls isn’t a good practice. Goodbye. |

Re: Chinese Gangster Gets Beaten at Restaurant
^^ OMG! And I would hope, for your sake, that you know that in general when people say the word "gang", they're talking about criminal ones as I was in this conversation. But maybe that's too hard for you to grasp. Oh, and ignoring me doesn't magically make you right. bigbear8, more like bigbaby8. |
