Officer Fires During Attempted Carjacking Near 10800 S. Campbell
On July 23, 2024, at approximately 5 a.m., near 10800 S. Campbell, off-duty Chicago police Officer Jan Murzyn discharged his firearm at unknown subjects during an attempted carjacking. Officer Murzyn's use of deadly force was found to comply with CPD policy. An allegation that he failed to immediately notify the Office of Emergency Management and Communications of relevant information regarding his firearm discharge was not sustained.
