On March 20, 2025, Chicago police were sent to a domestic-related call near 900 E. 100th Street.

Officers entered a residence, and one officer encountered an armed individual and a victim inside a bedroom. As the victim fled the room, the armed individual pointed a firearm in the direction of the officer.

The officer discharged their weapon, striking the individual. The individual was taken to a hospital and later pronounced deceased.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, and one officer was taken to a hospital for observation. A gun was recovered at the scene.
