Probly because they realized that they'd lose anyways -- against the then soviet forces.

Another good question is I take it, that it would be impossible for nearly 10 million Hungarians to leave.

And yesss, we do have our beloved romas/gipsys, but that's another story. I'm Hungarian and not one of them, but because they have Hungarian citizenship, everyone is crying out against the Hungarians.

FSA, PPU, YPG, SRF, PYD...?
You don't have to join a jihadi or Assad backed group in order to stand up for your country. Depending on where you fall in your religion and where you feel the country should go, there are groups for that.

Last I read there were up to 1,000 different groups operating in Syria at any given time. It's amazing how many of the support countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia.
